Machida Tenmangu Grand Festival

Beloved as one of the three Tenjin shrines in Machida dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, this grand festival features traditional kagura dance and taiko drum performances, along with numerous food and game stalls set up on the shrine grounds. The portable shrine (mikoshi) is carried through different neighborhoods by parishioners wearing happi coats, bringing lively festival shouts and excitement to the streets, especially on Sunday the 27th.
