Introduction to the Way of Tea with Curator’s Commentary
November 5–25, 2026
This beginner-friendly tea ceremony event features explanations and a demonstration by a museum curator who is also an Urasenke tea instructor. The event begins in the fifth-floor hall, where participants learn about tea ceremony basics and works from the museum collection through slideshow presentations. Afterwards, in the Kaikatei tea room, guests handle tea bowls and whisks, prepare matcha themselves, and enjoy traditional Japanese sweets. Experience the unique appeal of the tea ceremony beyond just viewing the art. Limited to 10 participants per session. Advance registration required.
