The East Gardens of the Imperial Palace were established as public gardens in 1968 on the former site of Edo Castle’s main, second, and part of the third enclosure. Covering an area about 4.5 times the size of Tokyo Dome, the grounds include the Ninomaru Garden, which has been restored in the traditional strolling garden style by Enshu Kobori. The rest of the gardens feature Western design elements. Inside, remnants of the original Edo Castle such as the main keep base, Fujimi turret, and historic buildings can still be seen. Enjoy the atmosphere of this historic garden during the autumn season.
