Autumn Foliage at Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine
The main hall, a prime example of Edo-period architecture built in 1828 under the eleventh Tokugawa shogun, Ienari, is designated as an Important Cultural Property together with the secondary shrine. Within the grounds, where the deep green woods and the vivid vermilion shrine buildings harmonize, you'll find the Shirahata Shrine dedicated to Minamoto no Yoritomo and Sanetomo, along with historic structures like the Maiden stage and Dankazura promenade associated with Shizuka Gozen. In autumn, the brilliantly colored trees make the grounds even more enchanting, marking it as one of the most famous spots for autumn foliage in the Kamakura area.
