Autumn Foliage at Kiyosato Highlands
October 1 – November 10, 2026
Free entry
Beginning in early October, the birch forests turn a brilliant yellow almost overnight, followed in mid-October by the peak of the Japanese maple leaves. The breathtaking landscape is a mosaic of red, yellow, and evergreen trees. In November, the larch and white birch trees glow gold, adding to the display. The diversity of broadleaf and coniferous trees creates a stunning variety of colors. Several events are scheduled for 2026, including the Yatsugatake Highlands Long Ride on October 4, the Yatsugatake Traverse Road & Trail Running Race on October 11, the Paul Rusch Festival—Yatsugatake Country Fair on October 17-18, Country Festa in Moeginomura on October 24-25, as well as the Yatsugatake Highlands Half Marathon and Kiyosato Nonstan Festival on October 25.
