Autumn Foliage at Kamakura Shrine
Kamakura Shrine is a hidden gem in the Kamakura area, attracting fewer tourists than other spots. In autumn, the maple and ginkgo trees turn vibrant colors, creating a stunning display of fall foliage. A notable highlight is a pair of Iroha maple trees transplanted from Kyoto about 150 years ago, which form a 'crimson ceiling' over the main plaza in front of the shrine office. Within the shrine gardens, you'll also find the impressively tall 'Jumbo Golden Leaves' and various other beautiful autumn scenes throughout the grounds.
