Autumn Foliage at Joritsuji Temple
Joritsuji is a Nichiren Buddhist temple and one of the eight temples that take turns serving at Ryukoji. A five-ring pagoda was erected here to honor Mongolian envoys executed during the Kamakura period on the orders of Tokimune Hojo, and as a result, the temple is known for visits by Mongolian presidents and sumo wrestlers of Mongolian origin. The temple grounds are also renowned for their beautiful autumn leaves, with the best viewing typically in late November.
