Autumn Foliage at Chichibu Kegon Falls
Chichibu Kegon Falls is a waterfall dropping in a straight line over a cliff about 13 meters high, located roughly 600 meters beyond the Mizukake Temple, the 34th stop of the Chichibu Pilgrimage. It was named for its resemblance to the famous waterfall in Nikko. At the top flows over distinctive red Chichibu rock known as 'chert,' and a uniquely wide-eyed statue of Fudo Myo-o stands nearby. The combination of autumn leaves and the falls makes for stunning views. Every summer and autumn, the falls are illuminated, with local women’s clubs offering regional food, and special events including guided tours to the waterfall basin on select days.
