The Masakado Festival, which began in 1972, is a signature autumn event in Bando City celebrating local hero Taira no Masakado. Festivities start with a victory prayer at Kokuo Shrine, followed by lively parades and stage performances. Over 100 people take part in a samurai procession accompanied by the Kanda Bayashi, a traditional music performance recognized as an intangible cultural asset of the prefecture, marching through streets closed to traffic.
