Tori-no-Ichi Festival at Zoshigaya Otori Shrine
November 7–19, 2026
Held every November on the 'Day of the Rooster' at Zoshigaya Otori Shrine in Toshima Ward, Tokyo, within walking distance from Ikebukuro, this traditional event dates back to the late Edo period. Visitors come to pray for business prosperity, good fortune, and family safety. The shrine grounds host stalls selling decorative rake-shaped good luck charms adorned with symbols like Okame masks, gold coins, and rice bales, alongside traditional festival stalls. Usually a quiet place, the shrine becomes lively during the festival, offering a chance to experience this early winter local custom and pray for blessings in the new year.
