From March 1907 for about three years, the renowned author Mori Ogai hosted the Kanchoro Poetry Gatherings at his residence, now the same location as this museum. While no official records remain, around 30 gatherings are known to have taken place, with a total of 21 prominent tanka poets—including Yosano Hiroshi, Ito Sachio, Ishikawa Takuboku, Kitahara Hakushu, and Saito Mokichi—taking part. This exhibition explores the full scope of the Kanchoro Poetry Gatherings through diaries, letters, and recollections of Ogai and the participating poets.
