Takaie Shrine is Japan's only shrine dedicated to the deity of cuisine. This solemn ceremony preserves an ancient tradition: dressed in ceremonial robes, a master chef uses only a knife and chopsticks—never touching the food by hand—to prepare ingredients such as carp according to time-honored methods.
