Autumn Leaves on Nihon Odori Avenue
Nihon Odori Avenue, completed in 1879 and designed by Richard Henry Brunton—who left an enduring architectural legacy in Japan—is the country's first Western-style boulevard. The street is lined with historic buildings and features rows of ginkgo trees that turn a vibrant yellow in autumn. These ginkgo-lined sidewalks have also been designated as important landscape trees by the city of Yokohama.
