Autumn Foliage at Jochiji Temple
Ranked fourth among Kamakura’s Five Great Zen Temples, this tranquil temple is known for its impressive stone approach and lush, peaceful grounds. The temple features the Dogen Hall, which enshrines the principal image of the Three Buddha Statues, as well as a bell tower gate and a statue of Hotei, one of the Seven Lucky Gods. In autumn, maple and ginkgo trees turn vibrant colors throughout the temple grounds. After the peak of the autumn foliage, the sight of fallen leaves offers a different yet equally beautiful landscape.
