Autumn Leaves at the Former Murakawa Villa
The Former Murakawa Villa in Abiko City, Chiba Prefecture, was the retreat of a Western historian developed from the Taisho to early Showa era and is now a designated cultural property. Its sloped garden, planted with many trees, is beautifully colored by fiery maples in autumn. The traditional house, originally relocated from the Abiko post station during the Taisho period, and a newer wing built in the late 1920s, serve as a picturesque backdrop for the fall foliage. The leaves typically begin to turn in late November, reaching their peak in early December.
