Autumn Foliage on Mount Tenran
Mount Tenran in Saitama Prefecture rises to 197 meters. Though modest in height, its summit offers sweeping views over Hannō city and the Kanto Plain, including Tokyo Skytree and Shinjuku's skyscrapers. A hiking trail leads west to Mount Tōnosu and down to Hongo, making for a roughly two-hour hike where visitors can admire brilliant maple leaves. Peak viewing season is from late November to early December. The mountain's slopes are also home to the Sixteen Arhat stone statues, dedicated by Keishōin, the mother of Shogun Tokugawa Tsunayoshi.
