The seed-bearing ginkgo is a rare variation of the common ginkgo tree that produces seeds on its leaves. Shimoyama is home to two such trees: one at Josho Temple and another at Hongoku Temple, both designated as National Natural Monuments. (Note: Only the sapling at Josho Temple can be viewed, as the original tree was damaged by Typhoon No. 24 in 2018.)
