栃木県 宇都宮市 栃木県宇都宮市中央1
This approximately 400-year-old giant tree once stood within the grounds of Utsunomiya Castle in Tochigi Prefecture. Though it was damaged by air raids, it sprouted new shoots the following year and became a symbol of Utsunomiya’s recovery. It is designated as a Natural Monument of Utsunomiya City. A walking path is maintained around the site, attracting visitors who enjoy strolling and taking photos with their smartphones. The tree turns a brilliant gold in the fall, with its peak viewing period typically from early to mid-November.
