Autumn Foliage at Mount Taihei
November 11–30, 2026
Free entry
Located about five kilometers west of Tochigi City’s traditional storehouse district, Mount Taihei is renowned for its vivid autumn leaves, especially the red maples around Kenshin-daira near the summit. From Kenshin-daira, visitors can enjoy sweeping views of the Kanto Plain and the Chichibu mountain range. The majestic scenery, with peaks rising through the mist, has earned the nickname 'Matsushima of the Land.' On clear autumn days, Mount Fuji can sometimes be seen in the distance. The leaves usually reach their peak color from mid to late November, offering brilliant red and yellow landscapes.
