Autumn Foliage at Kofunegahara Plateau
October 21 – November 10, 2026
Free entry
At the Kofunegahara Plateau, situated 1,200 meters above sea level, visitors can enjoy hiking while viewing the vibrant autumn leaves. In early autumn, the walking paths become covered with brightly colored maple leaves, creating stunning scenery. This spot is also popular for mountain walks from spring’s azalea season through autumn’s foliage. Notable historical sites such as Sanmai Stone, once used for ascetic training, and the Miyamatomo Lodging remain in the area, making for an interesting combination of nature and history. From the trailhead, hikers can ascend to the forest road for panoramic views of peaks like Mount Jizo and Mount Yuhidake.
