*Please note: Higashizawa Bridge is undergoing repairs until August 10, 2027. Protective sheeting will cover part of the bridge’s exterior, making half of it not visible. Please check the official website for updates.* Flowing down from the Yatsugatake Mountains, the Kawamatagawa River splits into the especially scenic Higashizawa (East Stream) and Nishizawa (West Stream) sections. Along the gorge, vibrant autumn colors can be enjoyed at various sites—such as the Teryu Falls. Rowan, maple, and larch trees transform into brilliant shades of red and yellow, creating breathtaking views. The iconic red Higashizawa Bridge, spanning the Jigokudani area of the gorge, offers a particularly stunning vantage point for autumn leaves, set against the backdrop of the magnificent Yatsugatake peaks.
