Autumn Foliage at Hokyoji Temple
Hokyoji Temple, a major Rinzai Zen temple in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture, was founded 650 years ago. Most of its temple buildings are nationally registered tangible cultural properties, and the Temple's main trio of Shakyamuni Buddha statues are also nationally designated important cultural assets. The peaceful grounds offer beautiful views of autumn leaves in late fall. The best time for viewing is typically from mid-November to early December, especially around the torii gate on the main approach and the red Kamesebashi Bridge, where vibrant red and yellow foliage colors the scene.
