Autumn Foliage at Heirinji Temple
Heirinji Temple, a Zen temple that preserves the atmosphere of the Musashino area, is renowned for its vast temple grounds designated as a national natural monument. From late November to mid-December each year, vibrant red maples, golden oaks and sawtooth oaks, and the deep green of pines create a stunning contrast, enveloping the entire precinct in a gradient of autumn colors. The foliage season is divided into early (from late November) and late (from early December) periods, each offering its own unique beauty. Walking through the wooded areas surrounding the temple buildings, visitors can experience the tranquil autumn scenery characteristic of Musashino.
