⌖ Open in Maps ↗Rakuten's Furusato Tax Donation program will host its second in-person event at Makuhari Messe on November 22 (Sunday) and 23 (holiday). About 230 municipalities from across Japan will participate. Visitors can experience local specialties at the municipality booths, such as fresh mandarin orange juice from a tap (Imabari, Ehime), a traditional footbath from Oita, and freshly shaved bonito flakes from Makurazaki, Kagoshima. Food trucks will offer regional dishes like sautéed scallops from Betsukai, Hokkaido, a seafood rice bowl with crab and salmon roe from Tsuruga, Fukui, and slow-cooked pork offal stew from Chiyoda, Gunma. At the 'East vs. West Rice Toppings Championship' booth, guests can sample and compare six toppings over two kinds of rice. The Disaster Relief booth will present stories of recovery in areas affected by events such as the Kumamoto earthquake and Chiba floods, along with a coloring area for supportive messages. On stage, Miki Fujimoto (Nov 22) and Abareru-kun (Nov 23) will discuss the Furusato Tax Donation system.
