This event is being held at Tokyo Innovation Base (TiB). When attending it, you'll also need to complete the free registration process with TiB if you have not already done so. You are strongly encouraged to complete this in advance, as otherwise you'll need to complete it on site before you're allowed into the venue.

19:05 〜 19:25 Open Source is the Most Fragile and Most Resilient Ecosystem — Peter Zhu
The open source software that powers our businesses is maintained primarily by volunteers but funded by too few companies. This talk reframes open source support as not charity, but rather a critical part of the business’ infrastructure. We will be discussing why your company needs a team to manage your open source stack, how to manage this team, and the benefits they could provide.
Attendees will leave with a concrete framework for explaining open source investment to technical and business leadership, along with actionable first steps they can take within their own organizations.
Peter Zhu (Staff Software Engineer at Shopify & Ruby Core Committer)
Peter is a Ruby core committer and a Staff Software Engineer at Shopify. He works on improving the performance of Ruby and has worked on various projects including Modular GC, Ractors, and Variable Width Allocation. He is currently based in Tokyo, Japan.
