The Tale of Genji and The Tale of Sagoromo are celebrated masterpieces of Heian-era court literature. Over the centuries, these stories have survived not only in their original forms but through copying, annotation, illustration, and printing, engaging generations of readers, scholars, and artists. This exhibition explores how The Tale of Genji, The Tale of Sagoromo, and related narratives have been transmitted and enjoyed from the Heian era to the present day.
