Since the Yushima Seido Exposition in 1872 through to the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo, the Ainu people have had a history of involvement with expositions for nearly 150 years. These exhibitions have acted not only as venues for sharing knowledge and culture, but also as places where people and cultures were compared and ranked, and the Ainu were at times displayed under a gaze marked by discrimination and prejudice. This exhibition traces that history through approximately 200 items—including crafts, photographs, postcards, letters, costumes, and videos—focusing on the experiences and perspectives of those involved.
