On-Site Workshop (Butchering Tour) at Tateyama Game Meat Center
August 1, 2026 – March 31, 2027
The Tateyama Game Meat Center is a facility in Tateyama City that processes and sells game meat from animals captured as part of local wildlife control efforts. Their brand, 'Tateyama Game Meat,' offers carefully aged and flavorful products. The forests of Tateyama provide wildlife such as wild boar with an acorn-rich diet, resulting in high-quality meat with tender fat and lean cuts. Processing follows Chiba Prefecture’s hygiene guidelines for wild game, ensuring safety. At the center, visitors can learn about wildlife management and observe both the butchering process and hunting demonstrations. For half-day programs, a special game meat lunchbox can be added as an option. Through this rare opportunity to witness wild boar processing, participants can gain a deeper appreciation for their food and learn to value animal life.
