⌖ Open in Maps ↗Hideharu Fukasaku Gallery Roppongi presents a solo exhibition by printmaker En Kitajima, formerly known as Yusuke Kitajima. Opening in August 2026, this exhibition marks the artist’s first solo exhibition under the new name.
Kitajima creates works through an original technique combining woodblock printing and monotype, known as woodblock monotype. As the word “mono” suggests, each work is a one-of-a-kind expression, created through a unique and unrepeatable process.
The artist primarily depicts animals and auspicious motifs, capturing their charm, strength, fragility and hidden shadows with a playful yet attentive approach. For Kitajima, the connections between subject and artist, and between artwork and viewer, are all forms of en— encounters and bonds that come together in the moment when a work is brought to life.
Entenka carries multiple meanings. It evokes the intense summer heat of August in Roppongi, while also expressing the artist’s determination for this new “en” to spread widely into the world.
Experience the vibrant and joyful new chapter of En Kitajima as the artist begins this journey under a new name.
