Great Monsters of Edo Exhibition: Supernatural Creatures and Mythical Beasts of the Edo Period
October 16 – December 6, 2026
A collaborative event about supernatural monsters, held simultaneously at both the Science Museum and the National Archives in Kitanomaru Park. The National Archives focuses on Edo-period monsters that existed between reality and fantasy, exhibiting items such as the 18th-century illustrated herbal encyclopedia and essays collecting Edo ghost stories. During the event, reproductions of archival materials will also be on display at the Science Museum, along with special gifts, a commemorative stamp rally, and other collaboration activities.
