Autumn Foliage at the Seven Waterfalls of Kawazu
The Seven Waterfalls of Kawazu are a series of seven distinctive waterfalls along the Kawazu River, spanning approximately 1.5 kilometers in Kawazu Town, Izu Peninsula, Shizuoka Prefecture. The largest, known as Great Waterfall, is about 30 meters tall and 7 meters wide, cascading powerfully over a basalt cliff. Each waterfall has its own unique character, making them well worth a visit. In autumn, the area comes alive with brilliant foliage—trees begin to change color in late November, reaching their peak in early December, providing beautiful views of both the waterfalls and the autumn leaves. There is also a hot spring area upstream, where visitors can relax and enjoy local attractions.
