Tabaimo: National Treasure
Friday, July 17, 2026
An exhibition by contemporary artist Tabaimo. All 500 illustrations created for the serialized newspaper version of the novel "National Treasure" (2017–2018), which was adapted into a film, are exhibited in both the former and latter periods. Tabaimo employs a technique of combining ink line drawings with color to express the emotions and atmospheres of each scene. Originally, these works were created by digitally merging line art and color for newspaper publication; this exhibition features them directly hand-colored on Japanese paper after about ten years, transforming them into new artworks. Known for video installations, Tabaimo explores the medium of painting to allow viewers to viscerally experience the scenes and feelings of the novel.
