Autumn Foliage at Tojo Hill Historical Park
November 21 – December 6, 2026
The park is home to a variety of trees and flowers, offering different scenery throughout the seasons. The highlight is autumn, when maples and ginkgo trees turn vibrant shades of red and yellow. The best viewing period is from late November to early December. Historic buildings, such as the thatched gate and the Tojo Residence—the former home of Tokugawa Akitake, brother of the last shogun—are especially picturesque when surrounded by colorful leaves. The park also features the nationally designated Tojo Residence garden built in the Shoin architectural style, and the Tojo History Museum, which displays artifacts connected to the Tokugawa family. Recognized as one of Japan’s 100 historic parks, it is an ideal spot to enjoy autumn leaves while reflecting on Japanese history.
