Autumn Leaves at Hondo Temple
November 21 – December 6, 2026
Known as the 'Temple of Hydrangeas' for its famous early summer flowers, Hondo Temple is equally enchanting in autumn. From late November to early December, around 1,500 maple trees—including varieties such as Yamamomiji, Osakazuki, and the regionally adapted Shuzanko—turn vibrant shades of red and yellow. The colorful foliage creates a stunning backdrop for the temple’s five-story pagoda and covered walkways, offering visitors a beautiful and atmospheric autumn experience.
