Autumn Leaves at Komatsu Temple
November 20, 2026
Komatsu Temple is a historic temple over 1,300 years old, nestled deep in the mountains. It is one of the few famous spots in southern Boso for autumn foliage and is known as the 'Temple of Autumn Leaves' in the region. During the season, maple and ginkgo trees brilliantly color the temple grounds. As you walk through a natural tunnel of leaves and pass under the vermillion gate, a tranquil and mysterious atmosphere awaits, enhanced by the vibrant foliage. In the evenings during this season, the temple grounds are illuminated, offering a magical and ephemeral view distinct from daytime.
