Autumn Leaves at Hattasan Son-ei Temple
Hattasan Temple is surrounded by lush forests and has a history dating back to 725, when the monk Gyoki enshrined a statue of the Kannon Bodhisattva he carved himself. Known for centuries as a guardian against misfortune, the temple grounds are filled with seasonal beauty. In autumn, the grounds are transformed by vibrant red and yellow foliage. The fiery maples and dazzling golden ginkgo trees contrast beautifully with historic stone steps, lanterns, and buildings, capturing the essence of a Japanese autumn. The fallen leaves carpeting the ground create a breathtaking autumn tapestry, as captivating as the canopy above.
