Autumn Foliage Around Hatanagi Daiichi Dam
Located in Shizuoka Prefecture, Hatanagi Daiichi Dam is one of the world’s largest hollow gravity dams and serves as a gateway for hikes to peaks such as Mount Akaishi and Mount Arakawa in the southern Japanese Alps. The dam is a perfect spot not only for hiking but also for enjoying vibrant autumn leaves. When the surrounding mountains change colors all at once, the reflection of the foliage on the lake creates a stunning view. The journey to the dam, passing through areas like Lake Ikawa, Fujimi Pass, and Kuchi Sakamoto Onsen, is also scenic. The best time to view the autumn colors is from mid-October to early November.
