Autumn Foliage at the Usui Third Bridge (Spectacles Bridge)
Completed in 1892, the Usui Third Bridge—also known as the Spectacles Bridge—is a four-arch brick bridge stretching 91 meters long and rising 31 meters high, making it one of the largest of its kind in Japan. Designated as an Important Cultural Property, the bridge is now part of the Apt Path, a walking trail along the former Shinetsu Main Line. Visitors can stroll across the bridge, especially during autumn when its brick arches stand out among vibrant fall colors, creating a striking, almost ancient scene. The foliage typically reaches its peak from early to mid-November.
