Tokyo Otsuka Awa Odori
Saturday, August 29, 2026
The Tokyo Otsuka Awa Odori started in 1971, led by the Minami-Otsuka shopping street. Over 1,000 dancers, including the newly formed Shin Suiren Awa Odori group from Minami-Otsuka, perform traditional Awa Odori dance. The eve of the festival features a dance performance by local groups and music from elementary schools and community organizations. The main event begins with a lively demonstration by Shin Suiren, followed by a parade where each dance team performs along Minami-Otsuka Street. Throughout the festival, food stalls line the streets, allowing visitors to enjoy festival treats while watching the dancing. The festival atmosphere is energetic and vibrant.
