Autumn Leaves at Shorinzan Daruma Temple
November 11 – December 10, 2026
Free entry
Founded in 1697 by the Chinese Zen monk Shinetsu, this temple is known as the birthplace of the lucky Daruma doll. Originally established to protect Maebashi Castle and as a temple dedicated to the Pole Star for warding off bad fortune, it covers about 56,000 square meters. From early November to early December, the grounds are ablaze with the autumn colors of maple, ginkgo, and burning bush trees. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll while viewing the vibrant foliage, and taking photos with the bright red and yellow leaves alongside the famous Daruma dolls is highly recommended.
