Autumn Leaves at Lake Ippeki
Formed around 100,000 years ago by a powerful volcanic eruption, this quiet, four-kilometer, gourd-shaped crater lake is also known as the 'Eye of Izu'. The poet couple Tekkan and Akiko Yosano were said to have loved this spot. In autumn, the trees turn vivid red, fallen leaves gather, and the landscape becomes especially beautiful. Seasonal sights, such as ducks swimming beneath the colorful foliage, add to the charm of this tranquil lake.
