Autumn Foliage Peak Season at Mount Iwabitsu
November 1–15, 2026
Designated as one of the Top 100 Japanese Castles, Mount Iwabitsu is an 802-meter rocky mountain known as a scenic representative of the Agatsuma Eight Views. Its south face features a 200-meter sheer cliff, with jagged rocks and strange formations giving it an appearance reminiscent of traditional Chinese landscape paintings. The summit offers spectacular views, overlooking the city below and the mountains of Joshu spreading out ahead. During the autumn foliage season, the dramatic contrast between the rugged cliffs and the vibrant red and yellow leaves creates a beautiful scene that draws many hikers.
