Takizawa Dam in Saitama Prefecture is located about a 50-minute drive from Chichibu city center toward Yamanashi on Route 140. In front of the dam is a loop bridge on Route 140, creating a striking scene with these two massive structures. The reservoir at Takizawa Dam is named Lake Okuchichibu Momiji, and as the name suggests, the vivid autumn leaves surrounding the lake and mountains form a stunning landscape. Visitors can also enter the dam itself to learn about its structure. The best time to view the autumn colors is usually from late October to mid-November, but timing may be delayed due to unusually hot weather, so it’s important to check local conditions in advance.
