Autumn Foliage at Shuzenji Niji-no-Sato (Village of Artisans, Maple Forest)
Shuzenji Niji-no-Sato, home to the largest maple forest in Izu, is known for its late autumn colors. The site features about 1,000 maple trees on a one-hectare hillside leading to the Village of Artisans, lined with traditional thatched-roof houses. In the Canadian Village and Fairy Garden areas, bald cypress and sweetgum trees turn a vibrant gold, evoking scenes straight out of a foreign film. Altogether, around 2,000 Japanese and Western trees create a breathtaking display of autumn colors.
