This historic fireworks festival, held in Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture since 1952, is a popular local tradition, taking place more than ten times throughout the year—not just in summer. The event is set in Atami Bay, which is surrounded on three sides by mountains and forms a natural amphitheater. This unique setting amplifies the sound of the fireworks, creating an impressive acoustic experience reminiscent of a large stadium. The reflections of the fireworks on the water add to the enchanting atmosphere, offering stunning views. Visitors can enjoy the display while relaxing on the sandy beaches or at nearby accommodations.
