This exhibition explores the leisure pursuits of Machiko Hasegawa, the creator of the beloved manga Sazae-san. While drawing manga was a lifelong profession, painting and other creative pursuits offered moments of relaxation and personal enjoyment. Bringing together paintings created for pleasure alongside ceramic works, including figurines, the exhibition reveals a side of Hasegawa's artistic practice rarely seen in the manga. It also looks beyond creative work to other pastimes, from attending Kabuki performances to traveling, offering a more personal portrait of the artist and the experiences that shaped everyday life. To mark the 80th anniversary of Sazae-san, which celebrated its milestone on April 22, 2026, life-size panels of the Sazae family will be installed throughout the galleries, inviting visitors to enjoy the exhibition in their company. The exhibition is presented in two parts, with selected works and archival materials rotated between sessions. Part 1: July 18–September 6 Part 2: September 15–November 8
