Saturday, August 29, 2026
Started in 1957 to liven up the town, Koenji's Awa Odori is now recognized as one of Japan's three major Awa Odori festivals. The event features large-scale procession dances at nine venues around JR Koenji Station, including the Chuo Enbujo, Momoyo Enbujo, Minami Enbujo, and Junjo Enbujo, with lively shouts and traditional music such as shamisen and drums. During the day, indoor performances are held at Cassion Suginami Hall and Za-Koenji 1, offering spectacular stage performances.
