A traditional festival held at Tomigaya Hachimangu Shrine since 1642, also known as Fukagawa Hachimangu Festival. It is one of the Three Great Festivals of Edo, alongside the Hie Shrine Sanno Festival and Kanda Myojin Kanda Festival. The festival features a water splashing rite where spectators pour purification water, and over 50 mikoshi (portable shrines) parade along an 8-kilometer route. The procession includes mikoshi rides, children’s mikoshi parades, and displays of various skills such as lifting, tossing, and jostling the mikoshi. Throughout the festival, performances of Japanese dance, koto music, Noh theater, Iwami Kagura, drums, shamisen, and other traditional arts take place within the shrine grounds. Jazz performances and tea ceremonies are also held, making it a lively event attended by many visitors.
