50th Anniversary Exhibition: 130 Years Since Seiji Togo’s Birth
Held to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the SOMPO Museum of Art and the 130th birthday of painter Seiji Togo, this exhibition reviews Togo’s career, best known for his graceful and modern portraits of women. Approximately 100 works, from his avant-garde early pieces to large-scale works from his later years—including the landmark “Nostalgia”—will be displayed, making it the largest exhibition of his paintings to date. The show also spotlights Togo’s creative output beyond painting, exhibiting around 100 design items including book covers, illustrations, and confectionery packaging. Discover the artist’s distinctive style and diverse talents, with design works such as pastry shop wrapping paper, cookie tins, and magazine covers that have become familiar parts of daily life.
