40th Atami Plum Garden Autumn Foliage Festival (2026)
November 14 – December 6, 2026
Atami Plum Garden, renowned for having the earliest-blooming plum blossoms in Japan, is also a notable spot for autumn colors. Around 380 maple trees adorn the garden, and due to the mild climate, the leaves typically reach their peak from late November to December, making it one of the latest locations for autumn foliage in Japan. Early-blooming plum blossoms may start to open from mid-November, so it’s possible to enjoy both colorful leaves and plum blossoms at the same time. During the festival, highlights include the annual foot bath, a photo contest, and illuminated autumn leaves. Please note the area is expected to be crowded; visitors are encouraged to use public transport. (As of September 6, 2026): Due to ongoing restoration work near the Sasajiri intersection, there is no free parking for group buses this season. Large buses should use designated drop-off locations and then park at paid lots: Atami City East Parking (phone: 0557-82-0451, 220 yen per 30 minutes) and the Seaside Fishing Facility Parking (phone: 0557-85-8600, 1000 yen per use). The Seaside Fishing Facility Parking is unavailable on fireworks event days (November 8, November 23, December 6, December 25, 2026).
